The Pidjanga will RUN again...

Glad to note that Kuya Toto and I finally got registered in the upcoming 33rd National Milo Marathon on 5 July 2009. The startting line will be at Kilometer Zero, Luneta Park. Kuya will run his first half marathon (21K), while I will do my first 10K for the year!

I hope other Pidjangas out there are also into running.

God, I hope I will surive. My last run was November 2008 (LAST YEAR)... the UNICEF Run at The Fort!

The Lake Mainit Resort (Hotel and Pools). Legacy of the Mondano administration. This project was heavily criticized because of the administration's seeming lack of prioritization. I, too, was one of those who provided critical scrutinies. But looking at this magnificent and beautiful structure and landmark, I feel proud, that finally, we can already accomodate our tourists with smile and pride. Well, tan-awon ta an management and maintenance kun unhon.

The resort from lakeside view.

Where is this? The former Lakeview Bakery? or the Moyon Grocery?

The Legislative Building. Legacy of Vice Mayor Nonoy Mosende and current councilors.

IT services are avaialable in Mainit.

Salamat Mon for sharing.

Pidjanga Human Rights

I think, I will need to make a thread of posts on Human Rights, especially the responsibility of EACH PIDJANGA, espeacially our officials,  towards the next generations of the Pidjangas.

Here's an excerpt:
Future generations
In 1997 UNESCO adopted the Declaration on the Responsibilities of the Present Generation Towards the Future Generation. The Declaration opens with the words:
“ Mindful of the will of the peoples, set out solemnly in the Charter of the United Nations, to 'save succeeding generations from the scourge of war' and to safeguard the values and principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and all other relevant instruments of international law. ”
- Declaration on the Responsibilities of the Present Generation Towards the Future Generation
Article 1 of the declaration states "the present generations have the responsibility of ensuring that the needs and interests of present and future generations are fully safeguarded." The preamble to the declaration states that "at this point in history, the very existence of humankind and its environment are threatened" and the declaration covers a variety of issues including protection of the environment, the human genome, biodiversity, cultural heritage, peace, development, and education.

Donate blood for a Pidjanga

A personal appeal to all of you for blood donation...

Our cousin, Mano Yongyong Mosende Avila (son of Auntie Mayling Avila), has been diagnosed with leukemia and will need interventions in his bone marrow including regular blood transfusion (from April 2009 to April 2010).

If you can donate blood, just proceed to any Red Cross office. After blood letting, you will be given a registration card. Mano Yongyong will need the registration card to get blood from Red Cross anytime.

Text or call Mana Cheryl (0926-949-2225) or me (0917-800-4557) for your questions.

Mano Yongyong was confined in Cardinal Santos Hospital, San Juan. But since he can now be treated as out-patient, he is temproarily staying in a nearby residence.

Salamat karadjaw sa ijo makanunayong suporta... matud pa "Sagip-Kapamilya" ini!

Greenstone Consultation with Local Goverment

I was informed that Greenstone Resources Corp, the firm that won the mining contract in Siana, Mainit, Surigao del Norte (read here), had a community consultation last 18 May 2009. The LGUs of the municipalities of Mainit, Tubod, and Alegria were supposed to be represented.

May we request Konsehal Nonong (Chair, Environment Committee) and Vice Mayor Banoy to update us on the proceedings of the consultation.

I am sure that current mining firms will ensure environmental compliance to the highest standards but we, the public and the community of Mainitnons, would like to know in details the firm's social and environmental impact assessment on Siana and how to mitigate potential impacts.

In addition, we also would like to know how the community of Mainitnons would benefit from the mining endeavor economically. As I have been blogging here (click here one of my posts), we do not want our OWN GOLD ROBBED from us!

Pidjanga note: This is actually a call to anyone who may have the information, including the Mayor Ramon. But since I have never received any feedback from the Mayor, kamo rakay follow-up dija.
