Pidjanga

(Glossogobius giuris) is a freshwater fish native to Mainit Lake. It is called “biya” in Tagalog and “white goby or tank goby” in English. The term “pidjanga” is also sometimes fondly used to refer to the Mainitnons, the people of the Municipality of Mainit, a town in Southern Philippines. This blog hopes to capture potentials of Migrants Pidjangas for the Development of our Town by attempting to document development issues, folk stories, and current concerns, about the Pidjanga — both the fish and the people.

Palhi an lugar...
Kun ajo-an (arang na-disgrasya). May mga naghuya na nagsan-pangajo nan "kinabuhi".
"Dong moagi kaw gani did-on sa Utod na Bukid, paghinay pagmaneho kay ajo-an did-on!"

Kun tawhan. May "tawo" na dili parehas nato na naghuya sa lugar na kasagaran mandapat:
"Si Mano Awing nahiwi an baba kay mabujong kon moagi sa tungod nan dayakit"
(Pidjanga notes: Umay pagka-tawo an tawag kinta, poreso, pareha ra dato. Hehehe)

Kun minoon kaw. Kalit lamang kaw mawaya nan di na makamatok.
"Nadugay si Tikboy makauli kabii kay waya na makasubay nan sakto na dayan kon diin na sija nahiabot may naagihan kuno na tubig kutob tuhod na waya nija maagihi sa una. An ija tag himo, ija tagbaliskad pagsub-ot an ija baro, adecer pa nija himatikdi na sa may tulay na sija nan suba nan Bitan-ag lapas sa sementeryo."

Kun may nagsan-hugom.
"Pag-agi nila Bodik sa may kilid nan acacia inkabatian nila na may nuhugom. Paspas dayagan daya singgit nan 'jari balibayon, jari ahos!' "
